- An intensive surveillance system is in place for all poultry farms, poultry markets, pet bird shops and wild birds in Hong Kong.
- This H5N1 infected wild bird was detected in the frame of the ongoing surveillance programme on wild birds. No spread of disease was evident.
- As a precautionary measure, the Mai Po Nature Reserve has been temporarily closed to visitors for 21 days starting from 31 March 2010.
- As this was a wild bird case, the date the event ended is the same as the date the bird was found (26 March 2010).
