  • Epidemiological comments
    • A high mortality was reported on 12 January in two layer farms, which were immediately inspected by official staff from SENASICA in the Municipality of Encarnaci?n de D?az, State of Jalisco.
    • The first outbreak has a population of 191,771 birds aged 72 weeks, of which 10,010 sick and 9,077 dead.
    • The second outbreak has population of 205,742 birds aged 65 weeks, of which 10,058 sick and 8,932 dead.
    • Both outbreaks were detected through notification made by the veterinarians in charge of these farms.
    • The disease evolved hyperacutely with clinical signs as conjunctivitis, edema, cyanosis, palpebral, comb and chin swelling and sudden death. Both farms are being depopulated.
    • Active and passive surveillance continues at national level and epidemiological investigation will go on in order to identify the source of the infection.
