THE avian influenza strikes a herd of Ferrara: 128thousand laying hens break down struck a herd of laying hens with avian influenza virus. The analyzes were made by the National Center of reference of Padua: this is a strain to high virulence of type H7. The herd struck, composed of 128thousand chickens in Ostellato (Ferrara).

  • Forlì province department laboratory results indicating the isolation of an avian influenza virus, subtype H7, from samples collected from layer hens in a Ostellato (Ferrara Provice) premise, Cod. 017FE030, and after the subsequent diagnosis confirmation by national reference laboratory, indicating the highly pathogenic nature of the strain;
• Taken into account:
  • the Veterinary service of the Ferrara Local Health Agency (ASL) and Emilia-Romagna Region Veterinary Health Department epidemiological reports about the premise at the centre of this avian influenza virus epizootic;
  • the national epidemiological situation, acknowledging that since several months in Italy there were not new avian influenza poultry oubtreaks;

earlier this year. Also in NL. But LP

would they tell us if there are matches ?
