Mainland visitor to Hawaiʻi confirmed to have measles virus

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Hawaiʻi Department of Health confirmed that an adult visitor to Honolulu was infected with the measles.
Following the confirmation of the case, the department is working to identify anyone who may have been exposed to the disease.
The visitor was from the continental United States, the department said. Once the visitor arrived, the department said they fell ill and sought medical care before recovering at a private residence on the island.
Measles cases reach highest level in 30 years: CDC
According to the Department of Health, the visitor was in the following areas in Honolulu and on the Big Island. Anyone who was also in these areas may have been exposed to measles, the department said.
Oʻahu
Daniel K. Inouye International Airport: A gates and baggage claim area between 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Feb. 26.
Laʻie Mormon Temple: Feb. 27 between 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Big Island
Hilo International Airport: Gate areas and baggage claim between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on March 3, as well as check-in, security and gate areas between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on March 4.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park: Visitors center, other attractions between noon and 6 p.m. on March 3.
