Health authorities report 10 deaths from H1N1 influenza in Bolivar

Bolivar city-a deceased by the H1N1 flu was registered in the capital city, becoming the first fatal victim who is known in the State, after detecting influenza in several places of the country. A second case would have been confirmed in Santa Elena de Uair?n, municipality Gran Sabana.

The President of the Institute of public health (ISP), Jos? Garc?a, called the community to remain calm, after explaining that 54-year-old male patient entered the sixth day of the month of May to a clinic in the town with critical symptoms, where appreciated him severe respiratory problems, high fever, constant cough, picture that it was complicated by their sufferings with hypertensionsaid Garcia. The death of the patient occurred the past 20 of the month underway, but had not been confirmed by authorities.

Health authorities immediately ordered the immunization of families and people close to the fatal victim, at the same time carried out constant monitoring and investigate about the recent places visited by the victim, to know the focus of contagion.

Bolivar three cases of H1N1 virus so far this year

Three cases of the H1N1 virus have been in Bolivar State so far of the year, one of those affected died. The head of the Institute of public health of the entity, Jos? Garc?a, said that epidemiological surrounding stays activated.

Reported that the siege was established since the month of January and the first case was recorded in the month of February and that this patient is now completely cured. The other two cases arose in the last 20 days.

One of the infected recalled that a 54-year-old man died in a private clinic of Ciudad Bol?var because it had an advanced and critical situation of the disease.

Said that only preventive measures will allow to lower the risk of contagion and in case of suffering from these symptoms immediately attend the health center public or private local. 'All health facilities are available to the community for consideration and take sample respective if necessary', said the specialist.

Died yesterday morning a girl with the H1N1, in the Caron? municipality, with this case amounted to five fatal victims in Bolivar State.

Mail of the Caroni tried to establish communication with the President of the Institute of public health (ISP), Jos? Garc?a, but the phones were out of coverage.

In the past, Garcia has offered figures and numbers of disease in Bolivar State, it is expected that today confirmed the information officially.

However, relatives of the small confirmed about the cause of death, the girl was held several days in intensive care of the Clinica Unare, isolated from their families.

H1N1 victim's relatives denounced irregularities in the handling of cases

Alfredo Garcia's family, died Tuesday at the Hospital Dr. Ra?l Leoni, in Guaiparo, were waiting yesterday by removing the body of another victim of the H1N1 flu, which has spread in some States of the country.

Medical report, said Oliver Guzm?n, nephew of Alfredo Garc?a, only indicated that it was suspected that the cause of death was flu; and why no doctor, or the hospital authority has signed the report so that the body can be removed from the morgue.

Family met yesterday at the facilities of the Medical Center to ask for help through the media and tell how, since Tuesday, 'they have ordered them from one side to another without giving them answers'.

Specified the nephew on Tuesday morning took the man to Hospital Uyapar because he had a headache, high fever and shortness of breath, there sent at 8:00 in the evening to the Hospital Dr. Ra?l Leoni, in San F?lix, and died after a few hours.

Also say family members that despite the gravity that Alfredo Garc?a had no health center wanted to receive it, because it is presumed that he was infected with the flu.

10 People have died from H1N1 in Bolivar

Six of the deaths have occurred in the Caron? municipality.



Jos? Garc?a, President of the Institute of public health (ISP) in Bolivar State, reported that so far people have died by the H1N1 virus in the State 10. Two of them in Heres, six in Caroni, and one in Sifontes and Gran Sabana, respectively.

Until now there are 232 suspected cases, only 45 of them are positive. Garcia recalled that it is important for the population to take preventive measures as wash your hands constantly, not to attend school, work or universities when they have flu, cover your nose when you sneeze and in case of risk also get vaccinated.

10 dead, 232 patients suspected and 45 confirmed in Bolivar State are the latest data provided by the ISP.



According to the epidemiological Bulletin the week of 16 to 22 July the Ministry of Popular power for health (MPPS), have been reported 2279 cases of influenza a/H1N1 in the country.

The States with the largest number of confirmed patients are M?rida with 930; Capital District with 287; Zulia with 266; 264 Tachira and Lara with 222.

In Bolivar State, the latest report offered by the President of the Institute of public health (ISP), Jos? Garc?a indicated that there had been 10 deaths by influenza, 232 suspected cases and confirmed 45. The information dates back to June 30.

Mail of the Caroni tried to establish contact with Garcia in order to update the figures, but it was not possible, because the contact numbers were not available.

Authorities insist that the situation is under control, reiterated the call to remain calm and to take preventive measures to avoid the spread of the virus: wash your hands, cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing, do not go to public places when you have flu, if it is considered a population at risk (pregnant women, children younger than 9 years(, adults 65 years and older, sick chronic) be vaccinated.
