DOH confirms second case of travel-related dengue in 2025

​The Hawaii Department of Health announced an individual from Oahu, who traveled to an area where dengue is prevalent, now has the virus.

This is the second confirmed travel-related dengue case in 2025.

Last year, there were a total of sixteen travel-related dengue cases in the state, with four on Maui, one on Kauai and 11 on Oahu. These individuals who became infected with dengue reported traveling to the following countries prior to symptoms onset: Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Philippines and India. All destinations listed are areas where dengue is known to be endemic.​..

The Hawaii Department of Health has confirmed a new case of travel-related dengue on Maui, bringing the total so far this year to four.

The latest case comes just a few days after the third case of 2025 — all of which were on Oahu — marking the first case for Maui County so far this year. Like the previous cases, DOH said this affected individual was exposed to the virus while traveling in a region where dengue is common.​..

A new travel-related case of dengue virus was confirmed on Oʻahu by the Hawai‘i Department of Health on Wednesday.

DOH teams have been deployed in the affected area to conduct inspections and implement mosquito control measures.

The state has seen a total of 11 cases in 2025, so far, including one on Maui and 10 on Oʻahu.

The individual in the latest case was exposed to the virus while traveling in a region where dengue is common.​..

The Hawaii Department of Health has confirmed another case of travel-related dengue on Oahu, bringing the total in the state to 13 so far this year.

The latest case comes about a month after the 12th reported case of dengue, which was also on Oahu. To date, the state has counted 12 cases on Oahu, and one case on Maui.​..
