KURUKSHETRA: Alarmed by detection of H1N1 case from here, the health department on Sunday rushed teams to screen the persons who might have into contact with the 21-year-old patient, who is currently admitted in PGI, Chandigarh.

Kurukshetra civil surgeon Dr Vandana Bhatia told TOI, "Soon after getting the information we formed teams for screening. We have collected samples from the girl's family members as well as the neighbours. As of now all the persons have been tested negative."

In all 15 teams have been formed and have been deployed in the locality, she added.

Some medical teams have been deployed for monitoring the condition of those living in their area, she said.

Swine flu cases reported in PGIMER

Chandigarh, Apr 2 (PTI) Three cases of swine flu have so far been reported at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research here this year. The cases were reported during the last one week, the first one being from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, the second from Kurukshetra and the third was a patient from a village near Chandigarh.

Season?s 2nd H1N1 case reported

CHANDIGARH: Five days after the season's first H1N1 case was confirmed in Tricity, another one was reported from Panchkula. Two weeks ago, five cases had surfaced from Punjab. Of these, one was from Mohali. About the positive case, Dr Deepak Bhatia, nodal officer of Punjab Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), said, "The case has been reported from Panchkula Sector 10 and is admitted to a Mohali hospital."

"We have sufficient Tamiflu stock and our health workers have been vaccinated," Dr Bhatia added. In April, a PGI nurse and a resident of Nayagaon had tested positive for the flu.

This is Panchkula's first flu case of the season. Panchkula health officials at IDSP have received a telephonic intimation from the hospital where the patient is admitted. Panchkula epidemiologist Dr Abhishek said, "We will get all details on Friday. Preventive steps will soon be taken. The patient has been quarantined."

In 2010, a PGI nurse had tested positive for the flu and in 2009, over 30 doctors.

First confirmed H1N1 case at Hallomajra

CHANDIGARH: Tricity's first case of H1N1 has been reported at Hallomajra, marking entry of the flu after a gap of one year. The victim is a 19-year-old boy who was admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32 on September 10.

According to investigation reports, the boy has a history of tuberculosis, and had been treated for the ailment. "The patient was brought in while suffering from pneumonitis. Symptoms include fever, vomiting, respiratory distress, sputum mixed with blood, inability to feed well, and falls under Category C according to guidelines set by the government," said Dr Naresh Kumar, programme officer of the national vector-borne disease control programme, UT.

"We have sent notices to schools and colleges to take preventive measures. The flu is highly contagious," Dr Naresh warned. Also, the number of dengue cases has reached 44.

Gurgaon sees spurt in dengue, swine flu

Dengue and swine flu are going viral in Gurgaon with the city reporting 149 cases of dengue so far, with five people succumbing to the disease. Cases of swine flu increased to four from three on Saturday.
But the disparity in the crunching numbers remain.

Alchemist hospital has registered a fresh case of swine flu, taking the count to four. But according to the health department, the cases stay at three.

The fourth case, from sector 55, was registered on October 7. The 55-year-old woman is in the isolation ward at Artemis hospital.
