TAMPA - Raymond Joseph, the Haitian ambassador to the United States, will host a town hall meeting in Tampa on Thursday to address earthquake relief and recovery efforts.

Joseph's visit coincides with memorial events for earthquake victims planned this weekend in Tampa and St. Petersburg, according to the Tampa Bay for Haiti Coalition.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the University Area Community Development Center, 13601 North 22nd St., Tampa.

The event gives residents an opportunity to ask Joseph and other Haitian officials about the state of the country and plans to rebuild, coalition spokeswoman Sania Grandchamp said.

Joseph, Haitian consul general Laurent Prosper and officials from local charity groups are also expected to attend this weekend's memorial events, Grandchamp said.
