Jerry Holt is on a mission.

Holt, 63, of Pensacola believes it is what his brother, Hank Holt, 54, who is in a medically induced coma batting H1N1, wants.

His goal is prevention, with the hope that no one else ends up like his brother.

Jerry Holt and his family coordinated an effort to have H1N1 vaccinations given away Sunday in Pensacola.

There were 346 vaccinations given at Publix, 5055 N. Ninth Ave.; Professional Health Examiners, 3298 Summit Blvd.; and Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, 901 East Gadsden St.

Jerry Holt said the effort came about after he learned Publix had a batch of the vaccine set to expire at the end of the month. He said he suggested the store give away the vaccine, and the store was receptive to the idea.

"If we save a life ... it will all be worthwhile," Holt said. "Hank would approve of this. This is something he would want us to do."

Holt said he is hoping to organize another free vaccine giveaway next weekend...

Excerpts:

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Sunday free H1N1 flu shots or nasal mists were given to nearly two hundred people at First Methodist Church in Pensacola.

Jerry Holt set up the clinic as his brother Hank continues to recover from the disease. For Jerry, Sunday was another victory against the disease.

"We're going to get the message out," Holt said. "For every two hundred people that get the shot, one life is saved."

"It makes me feel wonderful because people are understanding the urgency of the message," said Holt.

In June, Holt plans to take the shot clinic on the road. He will be giving away vaccine in fifteen different cities.
