H1N1 Garrison Outbreak Continues
published yesterday 06:03 PM, updated today 11:16 AM
New cases are being reported in the H1N1 swine flu epidemic that broke out at the Dragsvik garrison last week. The chief medical officer at the Uusimaa brigade says about 10 new cases a day are being seen.
Some 70 conscripts at the garrison have reported flu-like symptoms. Half of those who experienced symptoms are fighting the bug with proper bed rest.
A number of conscripts on leave from the garrison have also phoned in to report flu symptoms
An epidemic of the H1N1 swine flu virus was declared over the weekend at Dragsvik, as dozens of suspected cases emerged on Friday and Saturday. The epidemic is continuing, but new infections are appearing at a lower rate than previously expected.
None of the 700 conscripts at the garrison were allowed on leave this weekend and no new leaves are being granted.
