A tragedy occurred on September 13, 2025, in the hamlet of Kodranianda, in the Nyandankoro sub-prefecture, Siguiri prefecture. Three children from the same family died after eating a family meal. Five other people were hospitalized at the Siguiri prefectural hospital.

According to the father's statements, the events date back to Thursday, September 11. That day, the family shared a breakfast of traditional porridge, followed by a local dish called affidi. After the meal, everyone went about their business. However, at the end of the day, one of the children began to suffer from intense abdominal pain accompanied by vomiting. Thinking it was a malaria attack, the father tried to treat him with traditional herbal remedies.

But the situation quickly escalated. Two other children presented similar symptoms early that evening: vomiting, stomach aches, and convulsions. All three were rushed to the Nyandankoro health center. Two of them died shortly after admission. The youngest succumbed the next day, despite the care provided.

The forensic pathologist at the Siguiri Prefectural Hospital, Dr. Abdoulaye Bachir Condé, confirmed that a total of eight people were affected by the poisoning. "All the patients admitted presented the same symptoms: severe vomiting and abdominal pain. None had a fever or respiratory distress. After stabilization, their condition was deemed out of danger," he said.

At the request of the Prefectural Director of Health, samples of the suspect food were taken for toxicological analysis. The results, expected in the coming days, should shed light on the exact cause of this deadly poisoning. Judicial and health authorities are monitoring the case closely.
