Goju Takes Action

Re: Goju Takes Action

Comment for Runninghorses: I had difficulty getting connected within the community until I contacted the Emergency Preparedness Office through the County Public Health Department. It is my understanding that the county health departments, nationally, must develop plans per state plans/ recommendations. If your town is small, ie not a city, there is still someone in charge of Public Health. That someone/ board/ etc. may be your best contact. Just stay with it- it is difficult. But after a bit, it really is not so bad. There are alot of wonderful people out there who simply need information and ways to connect.

Comment for Goju: I am so impressed with your preserverance.

Re: Goju Takes Action

Thanks for the encouragement re. municipal preparedness. I have gone from a daily to a 'twice daily' reader of FT.

The council of our area (pop. 150,000) is preparing their sub-plan to dovetail with our state's AI plan. They are usu. very open to community input and I hope to get on the planning committee and keep needling them to keep this issue high on their agenda. (Is there any other issue right now??)

My heartfelt thanks for the fabulous work done here, which in layperson's terms and assistance of the great graphs etc., I'll keep presenting them. Goju, your presentation and one liners are a gem!

Re: Goju Takes Action

OK - Update -

1 - The Local ABCTV affiliate aired a good story on pandemic Flu preparedness. Score one for Goju!

2 - Just watched our First Selectman first "State of The Town" report on cable TV... 3rd topic out of 10 was emergency preparedness. Part 2 of Emergency preparedness was ... Pandemic Flu. He explained the seriousness of the threat. He said the town supported personal preparedness and recommended strongly that residents begin preparing immediately. He put the towns and fed gov's panflu website onscreen and kept it there for a good long time. He said guidelines were in at those sites and in the towns emergency booklet that was mailed to all residents and is available online.

I am very pleased with his coverage of Panflu in his state of the town message. Bill... you did good!
