INTESTINAL VIRUS HITS ST BERNARD?S HOSPITAL
A generally mild virus that causes vomiting and diarrhoea presumed to be Norovirus has affected patients at St Bernard?s Hospital, the Gibraltar Health Authority confirmed yesterday. The virus may in some cases cause dehydration and require specific treatment, said a GHA spokesman.
St Bernard?s Hospital has implemented all its Infection Control Policies for such cases including the restriction of visitors to just one visitor per person per day.
A Gibraltar Health Authority spokesman said: ?Over the past few days an enteric virus presumed to be Norovirus has affected patients at St Bernard?s Hospital (confirmatory tests are underway in the UK). This virus causes vomiting and diarrhoea and may in some cases cause dehydration that may require specific treatment.
