Summarized evaluation of the epidemiological situation
The weekly reporting will continue on the 15 KW addition in the current season, as the
Flu after definition of AGI still holding.
The activity of acute respiratory illness (ARE) is nationwide in the 15th calendar week (KW) in 2016
compared to last week dropped significantly. The values of the praxis index were overall in the field of
ARE background activity.
The National Reference Centre for Influenza (NRZ) were in the 15 KW 2016 49 (60%) of 82
Sentinel samples respiratory viruses identified. In 30 (37%) samples were influenza, in four (5%)
Respiratory syncytial (RS) -, were in five (6%) adenomas, in twelve (15%) and Rhino in a (1%) sample
humane metapneumoviruses (hMPV) detected.
For the 15 reporting week (MW) in 2016 have so far been 2,218 laboratory-confirmed influenza cases
to the RKI transmitted (data from 04.19.2016).
Overall, the season in NRZ were most commonly detected influenza B viruses (54%) since the beginning.
Many of acute respiratory diseases, the number of seasonally expected on a
lower level is to be still caused by influenza viruses.

so far were 2,218 laboratory-confirmed Influenzainfektionen2 For the 15 MW 2016
(including
1,480 clinical-laboratory-confirmed cases in accordance with reference definition) to the RKI received:
403 cases with non subtypisierter influenza A, 155 cases of influenza A (H1N1) pdm09, a case with influenza
A (H3N2), 66 cases with undifferentiated to A or B influenza and 1,593 cases of influenza B
(Tab. 4). At 457 (21%) cases, it was indicated that the patients were hospitalized.
Since the 40th 2015, MW 67,339 laboratory-confirmed influenza infections were
(Including 48,626 clinical-laboratory-confirmed cases in accordance with reference definition) to the
RKI received. With 12,104 (18%) cases had indicated that the patients were hospitalized (Data status
04.19.2016).
So far, 183 deaths have been received with influenza infection at the RKI, including 80 cases with
not subtypisierter Influenza A, 67 cases of influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 and 28 cases with influenza B,
seven cases without differentiation of Influenza type (A / B) and an epidemiologically confirmed fatality
in the context of an influenza outbreak. 43% of deaths were below 60 years old, 57% aged 60 or
older.
