أعلن وزير البيئة الفرنسي جون - لوي بورلو أنه تم تحديد أكثر من 60 مشروعاً في إطار خطة الطاقة الشمسية التي يسعي الاتحاد من أجل المتوسط إلي تنفيذها ضمن مشروعاته.

Union pour la Méditerranée: plus de 60 projets pour le "Plan solaire"

PARIS - Plus de 60 projets ont été identifiés dans le cadre du "Plan solaire" de l'Union pour la Méditerranée (UPM), a annoncé samedi le ministre français de l'Ecologie Jean-Louis Borloo à l'occasion d'une conférence sur ce thème à Paris.
"L'objectif, c'est le démarrage effectif des premiers projets pilotes d'ici fin 2009", a expliqué à l'AFP M. Borloo en marge de cette réunion qui a rassemblé plusieurs ministres de l'Energie (Egypte et Syrie notamment), des industriels et des institutions financières.
Une réunion ministérielle doit avoir lieu en mars 2009 à Monaco pour valider ces projets et faire le point sur leur mode de financement avant le lancement d'une phase pilote (2009-2010) puis le déploiement à plus grande échelle (2011-2020).
Lancée le 13 juillet, l'UPM réunit 43 pays: les 27 de l'Union européenne et 16 pays de la rive sud de la Méditerranée.
"Dans l'UPM, c'est clairement sur l'énergie, les énergies renouvelables, et le solaire en particulier, que l'accélération va être la plus brutale", a estimé M. Borloo.
"Il y a un puzzle qui se met en place, avec la convergence entre les capacités industrielles et technologiques, une volonté politique, et une prise de conscience généralisée (sur la nécessité de lutter contre le réchauffement climatique)", a-t-il expliqué.
L'objectif affiché de l'UPM est d'atteindre, à l'hoizon 2020, 20 GW de capacité d'énergie renouvelable, notamment solaire, dans l'ensemble des pays du pourtour méditerranéen.
L'une des pistes à l'étude est la création de gigantesques centrales solaires thermodynamiques dans le Sahara, qui permettraient d'alimenter l'Afrique du Nord mais aussi, via des câbles sous-marins, l'Europe.
