Sessions offer info on H1N1 flu virus

FREMONT -- Memorial Hospital's Director of Infection Control Dr. Iracema Arevalo, will have two free H1N1 information sessions in December.
The first is 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at Memorial Hospital's Chestnut Cafe. The second is noon Dec. 15 in Building B at Terra Community College, rooms B101 and B102.
Dr. Arevalo will speak about how long the seasonal and H1N1 flu season will last as well as whether or not the season has peaked. She will provide information on H1N1 symptoms, vaccine information, other preventative actions and work-related H1N1 issues.
Her presentation will include important information concerning vaccine safety; differences between the types of vaccine; risk factors; and common myths. Dr. Arevalo also will discuss the differences between seasonal and H1N1 flu.
Dr. Arevalo is on staff at Memorial Hospital as well as Community Health Specialists, where she is a pediatrician. She is certified by The American Board of Pediatrics. She is a specialist in infectious disease and pediatric infectious disease.
The presentation will last about one hour. Dr. Arevalo will be available for questions at the end of the presentation.
