The black series continues. A "suspicion" of cases of bird flu has been reported Saturday in a chicken farm in northern Vend?e and, "as a preventive measure, the chickens of the breeding have been slaughtered," announced the prefecture in a statement. This suspect case was observed in the commune of La Garnache, in an area bordering the Loire-Atlantique.

By prefectural decree, a safety zone of 10 km, in which "114 farms" were installed, was delimited around the breeding concerned in order to control the spread of the virus.

"Any movement of poultry, including destined for abattoirs, is strictly forbidden in this zone" which concerns nine communes of Vend?e in total and four of Loire-Atlantique, according to the communiqu?. The final results of the analyzes will be known at the beginning of next week, said the text recalling that "the avian influenza virus does not present any risk for human health".
