Flu wreaks havoc in Sydney schools and workplaces

July 31, 2014: There?s been an alarming, and dangerous flu outbreak in the past couple of weeks prompting renewed warnings to those most at risk.

A flu bug is surging through Sydney, wreaking havoc in schools and workplaces, and leaving doctors inundated.

Last week there were 559 confirmed cases of the flu, up by 175 on the previous week.

This year, significantly higher numbers are presenting at hospital emergency departments compared to last year.

The elderly are most at risk, with an outbreak in aged care facilities over the past week leaving two dead, 13 in hospital and a total of 190 people affected...
