Flu season starts in Olmsted County

The Minnesota Department of Health has reported the first cases of laboratory-confirmed influenza in the state, including a 25-year-old Olmsted County woman.

An announcement says her illness "was caused by the A (H3) strain" of influenza. It was "not swine-related."

Also, a 12-year-old Hennepin County child was sickened by a laboratory-confirmed B-strain of the flu virus. This year's vaccine covers the two cases identified so far...
