the main differences between A and B are:

1.) B circulates only in humans (1 seal sequence from ...)
2.) in USA and Europe B usually comes later in the season when A is
already going down
3.) A mutates about 2 times more than B (what's the reason ?)
2.5e-3 (H3N2) vs. 1.4e-3 (Victoria,2002-2011) nucleotide mutations per position per year
4.) B has only one HA,NA, and NS- subtype vs. 16,9,2 of A without batflu
5.) B has different length of the coding region and
B encodes different proteins (number of amino-acids) [number of nucleotides in coding region]

these are clearly distinguished in segments 1,2,4, while there was
some reassortment involving the other segments

Yamagata splits into 2 subgroups which I call 1 and 2 ,
this is not so easy to distinguish in segment 4,
which is preferrably sequences, as in A

the old B viruses before 2002 were last sequenced in 2005
and are extinct now, since then we just have the 2(3) groups
