With oil continuing to flow from the BP - Deepwater Horizon disaster, Florida Panhandle beaches are being affected by widely scattered oil tar balls which will continue to move east according to reports from NOAA.
Pensacola Bay is under siege from the oil and closing during outgoing tide, Pensacola Beach to Fort Walton Beach is also seeing oil tar balls washing ashore. In Destin, Okaloosa County authorities will begin to scheduled closings of Destin Pass. And in Panama City Beach, Bay County officials are ready for the inevitable effects of the oil spill.
There are No Florida Beach Closures - All Other Florida Beaches Are Unaffected by the Gulf Oil Spill
Saltwater fishing has been closed in Escambia County, (Pensacola area). All other Florida state waters, within 10.35 of shore, are currently open to fishing. Fishing in federal waters is closed between Pensacola and Destin. Federal waters are beyond 10.35 miles of Florida's shoreline in the Gulf of Mexico.
