Local media in Colombia confirmed the death of the first patient by the A H1N1 flu in Bogota. The victim apparently died after being treated at a clinic in the South of the capital. Until May 22 the National Institute of Health confirmed 4 cases of death of patients with Influenza A H1N1 virus, three of them occurred in Norte de Santander and the other in Huila.
The Director General of the National Institute of health (INS), Fernando de Hoz Restrepo, said that 'the country is passing through an epidemiological of acute respiratory infections (IRA) peak, expected for this time of the year' and stressed that 'it is appropriate to recall that of the Influenza A H1N1/09 virus today is a seasonal virus circulating normally in the country'.
