Tamiflu Made Available for Travellers
Travellers headed to areas with reported outbreaks of the H1N1 virus are now able to acquire the antiviral drug Tamiflu ahead of departure, reports the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
Previously, physicians were only allowed to issue Tamiflu prescriptions for people testing positive for the virus.
Officials say people who suspect they?ve contracted H1N1 should contact their physicians before starting a course of Tamiflu abroad.
Swine flu risk groups include seniors over the age of 65, children under three, pregnant women as well as people considered at risk of catching the seasonal influenza.
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health recently sent letters to municipalities, which urged local officials to prepare for a mass immunization campaign against the H1N1 virus. Finland plans to inoculate all citizens during the coming autumn and winter.
