TWENTY four cases of typhoid have been identified within Bua since the New Year prompting the Health Ministry to again emphasise proper hygiene and sanitation.

Fourteen cases of the condition were recorded at Nabouwalu sub-divisional hospital and the Wainunu Health Centre with a further 10 identified by the public health team in Bua.

The typhoid cluster is understood to have started abruptly after a New Year's function at a village in the province.

Health Minister Jone Usamate said the cases of typhoid were localised to the Bua province...

THE village of Nadua in Bua that was sealed off by health authorities earlier this year has been declared typhoid-free since February.

In January, the village reported 14 confirmed typhoid cases and 17 symptomatic cases...
