Family: Former Lincoln woman dies of swine flu during childbirth

She was 18 then, in Washington as the mayor of Boys Town.
But last week, circulating cell phone messages informed members of her former dance team the vivacious 20-year-old had succumbed to swine flu in Chicago, leaving behind two daughters, newborn Patricia and 1-year-old Annalycia.

Huber?s Journal Star obituary lists her cause of death as swine flu, although Amy Poore with the Cook County (Ill.) Department of Public Health told The Associated Press that Huber's death was not one of that state?s three H1N1 fatalities.
But Caitlin?s cousin said Tuesday he had spoken with her parents ? and she had died of complications from H1N1 flu during childbirth.
Steven Treat was not sure she died in Cook County but said it was in the Chicago area.
Of the 10,000 people with probable and confirmed cases of H1N1 flu in the U.S. so far, 17 have died, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Nebraska has had 57 cases and no deaths.
A pregnancy may heighten a person?s risk for pneumonia while fighting a pandemic flu, according to the CDC.
Father Steve Boes, Boys Town?s national executive director, issued a statement: ?The Boys Town family is praying for Caitlin Huber and her family after her tragic death at age 20. ? Caitlin did a great job at Boys Town and was a leader during her stay here from June 2004 until she graduated in May 2007.?
At Boys Town, Huber served as JROTC battalion commander and participated in soccer, cheerleading, Drill Team, Voices of Boys Town and the Chambers Chapel choir.
A Boys Town memorial service was planned for Wednesday.
A memorial service for Lincoln friends and family is set for 4 p.m. Sunday at the Unitarian Church, 6300 A St.
Huber?s former dance team members and instructors recalled a girl full of passion and energy.
?She really excelled at hip-hop and pop dance,? said Jillian Cascini of Lincoln. ?She was really fun to watch dancing.?
The daughter of Charles Huber and Vicki Treat of Lincoln, Caitlin?s obituary lists her birthplace at Fortaleza, Brazil.
Other survivors include a brother, Chas T. Huber; a fiance, Antonio Palafox; a grandmother, Charlesa Treat; and a Brazil mentor, Solange de Olivera.
