The Agriculture and Food Board (PTA) announced the infection cluster was found at the Kisla pig farm in Kastre municipality, X from Tartu. ASF incidence in wild boar in Estonia is also estimated as high.

Restrictions have been imposed on the facility, meaning that pigs cannot be brought in or out, while human and transport movement is limited until the outbreak site is eradicated. The PTA made the discovery Friday...

...The most recent ASF outbreak among domestic pigs was detected in June, at the Tempo farm in Viljandi County. Over 2,700 pigs were culled as a result of that.
Additionally this year ASF has been detected in wild boar in Tartu County, in three cases this year, most recently on July 15, in the village of Kärevere, Tartu municipality.

The figure nationwide for ASF found in wild boar was 57 as of July 18, and cases have been found in Valga, Jõgeva and Pärnu counties recently, as well as in Tartu County.

Overall, findings indicate that ASF is widespread among wild boar in Estonia, while the risk of domestic pig infection is high.

African swine fever (ASF) has been confirmed present at a pig farm in Ilmatsalu, Tartu County, which houses nearly 2,000 animals. Authorities have imposed restrictions on the farm.

Raimo Heinam, director general of the Agricultural and Food Board (PTA), and Priit Dreimann, a board member at AS Maag Agro, urged the public to show understanding and allow officials to handle the situation without interference.

"Based on our prior experience with ASF, we take any suspicion of the disease very seriously and are doing everything possible to quickly contain the outbreak," Dreimann said...

African swine fever (ASF) is spreading at Nurme Farm in Viljandi County, where plans to cull thousands of pigs, first confirmed ASF-positive late last month, have been repeatedly protested and as of this week remain delayed.

The Agriculture and Food Board (PTA) said Thursday that five pigs at Nurme Farm have tested positive for ASF, at least 23 more are showing symptoms and some have already died.

Culling has not yet begun at the farm, but the virus confirmed there in late July is now spreading more widely...
