Local hospitals are seeing fair share of seasonal flu patients

ENID ? It?s the peak of the flu season, and both Enid hospitals are seeing their share of patients with the illness.

At St. Mary?s Regional Medical Center, 85 people have tested positive for one of two strains of influenza out of 313 tests, said hospital spokeswoman Cyndy Shepherd.

Of those 85 cases, 57 tested positive for influenza A, and 28 tested positive for influenza B.

Integris Bass Baptist Health Center has seen five admissions for the flu in the past week, said Anita Andrew, spokeswoman for Bass.

?We think we are just now hitting peak flu season as evidenced by the five hospital admissions,? Andrew said. ?Prior to these five cases, we hadn?t seen any cases severe enough to require hospitalization.?

Three of those cases involved individuals older than 65 and two were children under the age of 6...
