Three thousand 836 confirmed cases of zika in El Salvador

San Salvador, Jan 11 (PL) The Minister of Health of El Salvador, Violeta Menjivar, today confirmed the existence of three thousand 836 cases of Zika, 63 of them are pregnant women receiving follow-up because fetuses have microcephaly.

The Minister stressed that the disease is also associated with Guillain-Barre syndrome, which occurs when the body's defense system (immune system) attacks the nervous system.

This syndrome leads to nerve inflammation is present that causes muscle weakness or paralysis and other symptoms.

The Minister reiterated his call to destroy mosquito breeding, as the Aedes aegypti is the vector carrying the zica, dengue and chikungunya.
