Egypt - Warnings of the use of the Chinese serum of the bird flu

Basically, this Dr. Tharwat Al Zeini seems to be saying that even though there is not enough vax for poultry in Egypt at the moment (unlike in Europe), the poultry farmers should not try the Chinese vax because it doesn't work.

Machine translated from Arabic:

Warnings of the use of the Chinese serum of the bird flu
April 17, 2006

He wrote - Tarek Youssef:

Doctor Tharwat Al Zeini the member of Board of Directors of the union of the poultry producers confirmed the failure of the government in the provision of a safe prayer as the product in Europe and a substitute about the Chinese serum that his failure was proved inside China itself and leaned Al Zeini I follow several reports some of it issued from Minnesota University (Cidrap) in November, 2005 and a Research Department and the infectious diseases policies in a ministry the Chinese agriculture and he pointed that the Chinese vaccine could not control of the bird flu disease in China and it became clear that it does not abound in it the standard conditions for the production of the vaccine are with the recognition of the Chinese government only.

And that confirmed that its use caused the spread of the disease is in the farms as caused also the presence of human injuries and has supported this disgust the French agency (AFP) and there a revealed American report in 22 November 2005 it reports that the fortification of millions of the chickens and the ducks took place in China and Vietnam and Indonesia are by this false vaccine.

Egypt receives H5N1 virus vaccine from Mexico 25 /5/2006

Some Seven tonnes of bird flu vaccine arrived at Cairo International Airport for bird inoculation.

The veterinary quarantine authorities at the airport tested the Mexican vaccines, coming via Paris, and handed them over to an international company on vet trade cooperation for transferring it to a number of Egyptian governorates.

According to Cairo airport quarantine sources, the shipment contains H5N1 and H5N2 vaccines.

Re: Egypt - Warnings of the use of the Chinese serum of the bird flu

My guess why it doesn't work is that it's based on the 2004 Viet strains, and not on the Qinghai-derived strain.

Re: Egypt - Warnings of the use of the Chinese serum of the bird flu

Which strains is the Mexican VAX based on? Surely not the Mexican H5N2!

How were they tested? To see if they caused H5N1, or whether they were effective in stopping H5N1? If I remember correctly, a poultry VAX must only match it's hemmaglutinin, but they can still be mismatched.

Did someone remenber a story about fake antivirals that where produce in China ?

When your in a communist dictatorship, you fear your superior.
So if your superior whant a vax, even if it doesnt work you give him the vax, that it...

That is a part of the "cover-up" culture in theses rigid hierachized country.

Just an example of "fear" that may experience any worker in this field in China...

Qiao gained overnight fame as the first informer of a bird-flu outbreak. But his joy did not last long. One month later, Gaoyou police paid a midnight visit (...) which turned out to be the prologue to detention. The next day, Qiao was arrested on suspected fraud and blackmail activities. His arrest happened two days after he attempted to report another bird flu outbreak - this time in his own hometown. (...)
On condition of anonymity, a Gaoyou police officer told ATol that they had to arrest Qiao because he was suspected of being involved in illegal production of vaccines for chicken. But observers pointed out (...) Qiao's arrest took place when he was preparing to expose the bird flu outbreak in Gaoyou.
(...) Analysts said it was likely that the central government intervened, so the case now seems to be moving to Qiao's advantage
.

Cover-up are a reaction to systemic individuals fears.

So a inefective vaccine that came up from china does not surprised me.

Yes. As I said on another thread about the Chinese vaccines in Egypt:
The Egyptian press took pains point out that the Chinese vaccine used in Egypt that didn't work was bought from "unauthorized suppliers." I don't, of course, know how accurate this report is, but I think there must be something to it since the Egyptian gov't is now buying more vaccine from China:

Remains to be seen if this batch will work.
