أكد د.عادل خطاب، مستشار وزير الزراعة لمكافحة أنفلونزا الطيور، رئيس قسم الأمراض الصدرية بطب عين شمس أن "وزارة الصحة تعمل حاليا علي خطة لمكافحة أنفلونزا الطيور في حالة ظهورها بشكل وبائي في الفترة القادمة، وتقضي الخطة بخفض أعداد العاملين بالمرافق الحيوية إلي النصف وتقليص عدد العاملين بوزارتي النقل والداخلية والهيئات السيادية إلي الثلث تقريبا لحمايتهم من المرض". وأضاف خطاب بحسب صحيفة البديل أن "منظمة الصحة العالمية اعتبرت مصر والصين وأندونيسيا وفيتنام الدول الأكثر عرضة لانتشار أنفلونزا الطيور بشكل وبائي، رغم أن الحالة في مصر مستقرة خلال الشهور الـ3 الأخيرة منذ آخر حالة وفاة بسبب المرض في أبريل الماضي". وقال مستشار الوزير إن "الوزارة دربت 360 طبيبا و360 ممرضة خلال الشهور الماضية، ويجري العمل حاليا علي توفير غرف عناية مركزية بالمستشفيات لمواجهة أنفلونزا الطيور". The Minister's advisor, said that "the ministry has trained 360 doctors and 360 nurses in the last few months, and work is under way to provide care central hospital rooms to cope with bird flu."
