رفع الصحفيون لافتات منددة بقرار المجلس الأعلى للصحافة بضم جريدة المسائية لمؤسسة أخبار اليوم، وهو ما أدى لحالة استياء داخل المؤسسة، باعتبار أن ذلك سوف يؤثر على العاملين بأخبار اليوم.

وطالب المحتجون بعدم تنفيذ قرار دمج المسائية بمؤسسة الأخبار، ووصفوه وهاجموا محمد عهدى فضلى رئيس مجلس الإدارة الذى رفض طلب محمد بركات رئيس تحرير الأخبار باختيار 3 صحفيين يمثلون زملاءهم فى اجتماع مجلس الإدارة لبحث إشكالية قرار ضم المسائية، والتى تصدر عن دار التعاون، لمؤسسة دار أخبار اليوم.

وقال الكاتب محمود عارف، إن المشكلة تتلخص فى ضرورة الدفاع عن أخبار اليوم المؤسسة التى قامت على سواعد أبنائها، وإن أبناء مؤسسة دار التعاون هم الذين أوصلوا مؤسستهم لهذه الحالة، لذا يجب أن يتحملوا تبعات هذا الفشل، ومن ثم يجب على مجلس الشورى أن يعالج هذا الأمر سريعاً.
