About fifteen children died of anemia on fifty cases recorded in a week in the town of Kyondo, about 1000 km from Lubumbashi (Katanga). Sources in the region indicate that this is due to lack of care at the health center of Kyondo where nurses have abandoned the sick to keep record of their colleagues arrested last week, the floor of the locality Kime.
The assistant surgeon health center Kyondo is accused of deliberately killing a patient after surgery.
These nurses condition the resumption of work by the release of their colleague.
The managing director of the health zone Kabongo deplores this situation:
" We have already recorded 15 deaths in one week and 56 cases of anemia for children. The prosecutor is demanding 300,000 FC (330 U.S. dollars) to grant bail to the assistant surgeon . "
