EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Republic added 475 new infections of COVID-19 and 11 more deaths reported in the last 24 hours, according to the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health

Since the beginning of the pandemic, last March, the country has registered a total of 110,597 coronavirus infections and 2,087 confirmed deaths.

The bulletin indicated that there are 848 people hospitalized, of which 214 are in intensive care units (ICU) and 127 need mechanical ventilation.

Currently, 23,900 people have the disease in the country, known as active cases.

The positive rate in PCR tests, the most reliable for detecting the virus, continues its downward trend and stands at 17% in the last four weeks, an indicator that suggests a decrease in the rate of infections.

This improvement has led the Government to order that, as of next Monday, the curfew schedule be made more flexible, which currently varies depending on the days of the week and the regions of the country.

Starting Monday, the curfew will begin across the country at 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 7 p.m. on weekends.
