Diarrhea kills three in Paniai, Papua
Jayapura (ANTARA News) - A diarrhea epidemic has broken out in four kampongs in Paniai district, Papua province, and three people have so far died of the disease.
Alfons Pigome, Idakotu kampong head, told ANTARA in Enarotali, Paniai district, on Monday that a number of people at Idakotu, Ekemanida, Mauwa and Digiyuwo kampongs had been infected with diarrhea over the past three weeks.
Rufusinus Tebay, a health officer of the Moanemani community health center, Paniai, confirmed the diarrhea outbreak.
However, he said medicines were lacking in the area and he hoped that the Paniai health authorities could send medicines to the remote villages. (*)
