Diabetes causes more deaths than the H1N1 influenza virus in Mexico, according to members of the Diabetes Research Foundation (FIND).
Only in the 16 months, which included an epidemiological alert for the epidemic of influenza, there were 360 thousand deaths.
In that same period, 100 000 Mexicans died because of this disease, characterized by an excessive concentration of sugar in the blood, said Agust?n N??ez, president of the organization.
Nevertheless, he said, because it is an emerging epidemic, all sectors-government, academia, private sector and civil society of the country, engaged and participated in efforts to contain the influenza A virus H1N1.
