Ontario reported 79 total influenza fatalities through Week 4. Through Week 52 they had only reported 4 deaths. That means that they have had 75 deaths in four weeks! That is more than half the total number of deaths (130) reported in Ontario from April 2009 through September 2010. With a population of 13.2 million, Ontario has experienced 5.6 deaths per million in just one month.
The population-based death rate in the UK for the season to date has been 6.6 deaths per million, which for the time period, was the highest I'd seen. So the situation in Ontario must be as bad or worse than what the UK experienced in late December.
Some nations haven't reached 6 deaths per million in the nearly 2 years since the Pandemic began. Here are some examples just for comparison:

I realize that surveillance and disease reporting is so highly variable that comparison between nations is just a guide; however, this does seem to be an anomaly and it hasn't gotten a lot of media coverage.
