dec 30 2016

Croatia on Friday announced the discovery of a highly contagious strain of bird flu in poultry at a small family farm on the country's northern border with Hungary.

The H5N8 strain of bird flu, detected at a farm in the village of Kriznica on the Drava river, killed all 15 chickens and ducks raised there, an agriculture ministry statement said.
The village is home to 22 small farms raising poultry, it said.
But as it is located between the Drava and the border, there is no risk that the virus will spread, the ministry added.
Precautionary measures were nonetheless brought in.
"A ban on the movement of people, animals and vehicles was introduced in the area of infection," the statement said.
All poultry in the village will be culled later on Friday.

merci,

Croatia is part of the EU (2013), so the rules are basically the same as in France and other EU-countries. Some countries can do more if they want .

merci,

[h=2]Situation au 30 d?cembre 2016 : 75 foyers H5N8 dans les ?levages et 5 cas dans la faune sauvage confirm?s et notifi?s.[/h] http://agriculture.gouv.fr/influenza-aviaire-le-suivi-des-foyers-en-france

dont
Le 29 d?cembre 2016, un foyer a ?t? confirm? ?

On 27 December 2016, a suspicion of avian influenza in backyard poultry was reported to the Veterinary and Food Safety Directorate. Fifteen chickens and one turkey were found dead. The animals showed clinical signs of the disease. Samples were taken and sent to the Croatian Veterinary Institute - Poultry Centre (Croatian Reference Laboratory) in Zagreb. Avian influenza subtype H5N8 was detected in the pooled samples on 29 December 2016. According to the preliminary laboratory results, on 30 December 2016 all susceptible species from the affected holding as well as animals in the affected area were killed. On 3 January 2017, highly pathogenic avian influenza subtype H5N8 was confirmed. Implementation of the disease control measures according to the Directive 2005/94/EC is ongoing.
