Zagreb - The presence of bird flu, subtype H5N8, has been registered in Croatia.

The presence of this type of flu was registered on a farm of fattened turkeys in the area of Koprivnica-Križevci County.

As it was announced, further laboratory analyzes will determine which group of pathogenicity the virus belongs to (high or low pathogenic virus).

The virus found belongs to the H5N8 subtype, which has not yet been determined to cause infection in humans, ie to have a zoonotic potential.

The farm has been placed under the supervision of the veterinary inspection of the State Inspectorate and actions are currently being taken to establish the facts important for determining further measures on the farm itself as well as in Croatia.
