Kawasaki disease
Kawasaki disease is an acute vasculitis affecting children, potentially dangerous for coronary involvement (coronary artery aneurysms) and is considered the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children.
Its etiology is unknown but is related to an infectious origin, especially with the virus and its diagnosis is based on clinical manifestations: fever, lymphadenopathy, oral abnormalities, ocular involvement, generalized rash, peeling of fingers ...
In addition, in between 15 and 25 percent of the cases, along with Kawasaki disease appears to heart disease.
The treatment is based on high-dose aspirin and intravenous gamma globulin, clearly improving the prognosis with early treatment with immunoglobulin.
