The Health Bureau received 6 reports of cluster infection of influenza-like illness today (21st), the details are as follows:
In the first case, four male students, aged 10, were unwell in Haixing Secondary School Primary Class on Gaolou Street;
The second case, Class A, Class B and Class D of Qi Neng Center located in Muchang Lane, a total of 5 residents were unwell, 1 male and 4 female, aged 32 to 68;
The third case was at the St. Margaret Center on Tianjin Street, Zhuojia Village, Taipa. A total of 6 residents and 1 employee were unwell, all of whom were female, aged 25 to 72;
The fourth case, Ying Le House located in Chuan O Street, Fai Chi Kei, a total of 5 residents and 2 staff were unwell, 6 men and 1 woman, aged 31 to 51;
The fifth case, Class A of St. Paul's Secondary School, located at the inclined road in Areia Ring Road, a total of 7 students were unwell, 5 boys and 2 girls, aged 13;
The sixth case was the K3B class of Qingzhou Secondary School attached to the Macao Chinese General Chamber of Commerce located on Avenida Qingzhou. A total of 5 students were unwell, 3 males and 2 females, aged 5;
The above-mentioned patients developed upper respiratory symptoms such as fever and cough on April 16, and some patients have been diagnosed and treated; relevant places have strengthened infection control measures such as cleaning and disinfection and maintaining indoor air circulation, and strictly implemented the isolation regulations for sick students and employees.
Regarding the 4 cases of severe influenza reported earlier, among them, a 6-year-old girl with encephalitis due to Influenza A was notified on March 31. She was in stable condition and was undergoing rehabilitation treatment in the general ward; The 75-year-old male patient with pneumonia and respiratory failure is in stable condition and has been transferred to the general ward for further treatment; the 64-year-old female patient who developed pneumonia due to Influenza A was notified on April 8 and was discharged from the hospital on April 11. In addition, it was reported on April 17 that the 8-year-old girl who returned to Australia from Guangxi Province due to influenza A complicated by encephalitis is still in a coma and is still in a critical condition in the Pediatric Intensive Care Department of the Earl General Hospital.
The Health Department reminds residents to take the following measures to reduce the risk of influenza or other upper respiratory infectious diseases:
1. Annual seasonal flu vaccination;
2. Make sure you and your family get enough sleep, eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly;
3. Maintain good personal hygiene habits and wash hands frequently;
4. When sneezing or coughing, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, wrap your saliva and secretions with a tissue, put them in a covered trash can, and wash your hands as soon as possible; if you don’t have a tissue, you should cover your mouth and nose with your elbow instead of Cover your mouth and nose with your palms;
5. Maintain air circulation and good environmental hygiene;
6. Avoid going to crowded places;
7. Anyone who has cold symptoms, needs to take care of patients and enters hospitals and clinics should wear a mask;
8. If you feel unwell, see a doctor in time and stay at home to rest.
