China plans to expand to pregnant women influenza vaccination

December 10, 2009, 05:07 Beijing, Dec. 10 (PL) China plans to expand the vaccination campaign against influenza A (H1N1) to pregnant women, a group that represents 13.7 percent of the deaths associated with the new pandemic in the country.
Experts from various institutions and agencies working on a plan to incorporate the above immunization at one of the segments recognized among the most vulnerable to this illness, according to advance local media today.
Pregnant women died because by that totals 46, while the total on the mainland of the territory is 326, until last October 7th.
According to official figures, more than 31 million people were vaccinated against that disease as part of the campaign, which are also excluded under three years. Although in the case of pregnant women aims to consult the doctor before being immunized, international studies indicate that there is no evidence that such action is harmful to the mother or baby, while the World Health Organization recommends it, according to that state officials in this capital.
