Shanghai: Negative antigen test is not a substitute for negative nucleic acid certificate
March 20, 2022 10:37 First Financial

Wu Jinglei, director of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, said that the new crown antigen test is mainly used for rapid population screening and triage management to shorten the transmission chain. At present, the antigen test is used as a supplement to the new coronary pneumonia test. The nucleic acid test is still the basis for the diagnosis of new coronary pneumonia infection. A negative antigen test cannot replace a negative nucleic acid certificate. At the press conference of the National Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism, experts from the National Clinical Examination Center emphasized that antigen testing is mainly used for the detection of high-risk, high-prevalence clusters of infections. If the antigen test is positive, regardless of whether there are symptoms of respiratory tract, fever, etc., it should be reported immediately, and the relevant personnel should be transferred to a medical institution with a fever clinic for nucleic acid testing in accordance with regulations.
