Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying

  A reporter asked that the epidemic of new crown pneumonia is spreading rapidly around the world, and countries are in great demand of N95 masks and other anti-epidemic materials. Some people think that China is hoarding medical supplies for epidemic prevention and has not provided timely help to other countries. what opinions do the Chinese have on this issue?
  "I totally disagree with this statement." Hua Chunying said that at present, the epidemic situation in China is not over, there is a lot of pressure on external defense imports and internal defense rebound, and there is also a great demand for related medical supplies. It is the primary responsibility of the Chinese government to do a good job in domestic prevention and control and to protect the health of the people. "Protecting 1.4 billion Chinese people well is a huge contribution to global public health security."
  "At the same time, we are also actively providing epidemic prevention materials to countries in need." Hua Chunying quoted the data as saying:
  ——The Chinese government has provided material assistance to 120 countries and 4 international organizations, including general medical masks, N95 masks, protective clothing, nucleic acid testing reagents, ventilator, etc .;
  ——Chinese local governments have donated medical supplies to more than 50 countries through international friendship cities and other channels; Chinese companies have donated medical supplies to more than 100 countries and international organizations;
  ——Some countries have submitted commercial procurement assistance requests to China through diplomatic channels, and China has recommended qualified exporters to them. Thirty countries and two international organizations have signed commercial procurement agreements with Chinese exporters, including masks, protective clothing, and nucleic acid detection reagents. Buyers from many countries are negotiating with Chinese companies.
  Hua Chunying said that as Chinese companies resume work and production, Chinese companies will provide more material support to the international community in responding to the epidemic. The Chinese government will also continue to provide support and necessary convenience for countries to purchase in China. China also hopes and welcomes companies from all countries to strengthen cooperation and jointly maintain the stability of the global medical property asset industry chain.
  Hua Chunying also reminded that there is a great demand for N95 masks in various countries. China's approach is to leave the N95 masks to those medical staff who are in the most dangerous positions and most vulnerable to infection. (Finish)
