The Secretary of State called to avoid approaching sick or dead birds and animals.

The Minister of Health, Ximena Aguilera, along with her Agriculture partner, Esteban Valenzuela, and the directors of the Livestock Agricultural Service, Andrea Collado, and the National Fisheries Service, Soledad Tapia, referred to the situation of avian influenza in the country.
During the instance, the highest health authority called, on the eve of the long weekend of Easter, "people's responsibility for the behavior of not approaching sick animals, not touching them and reporting," in addition to avoiding "approaching marine animals, properly informing when there are strandings so that they withdraw and understand that this is a situation that is affecting wildlife, unfortunately in a people."

However, the authority said that "the disease in humans is serious, it is a disease in which the virus is aggressive and that is why for us it is a factor of concern and for more than 20 years we have been working on preparedness plans for avian influenza and possible influenza pandemics."
Within the framework of this work, the head of Health explained that "we have to have a work of diagnostic capacity of this virus in the human being that is confirmed in the Institute of Public Health, we have a global influenza surveillance network with the World Health Organization in which the samples that are confirmed here are sent to reference laboratories for a genetic analysis to be done, in each of the regions there is If there is a suspicion of an avian virus, send it to the ISP quickly."
Regarding the treatment of avian influenza in humans, Minister Aguilera pointed out that there are antivirals and added that "as a health system we have to be able to have these antivirals for a timely treatment of the affected people and we also have to do a job in relation to these agents that we call emerging, that is to say that they are agents that are new in description, avian viruses that we have to contribute to the investigation of these phenomena."
