The causes that led to the hospitalization of 25 cadets from the Military School, after suffering an acute respiratory condition, are still under study. There are currently 12 boarding schools.


The Military School issued a new statement on Tuesday regarding the situation affecting first-year cadets, who were admitted for suffering an acute respiratory condition.

The situation became known last Monday, after the Army institution itself reported that 25 young people were admitted to the Military Hospital. This after an instruction in the coastal town of Pichicuy, Valparaíso region.

According to the statement, all first-year cadets were isolated as a result of this situation.

This Tuesday, in a second official letter on the subject, the Military School reported that at the moment the causes of the acute respiratory condition are unknown.

"The Military Hospital of Santiago is awaiting the results of the evaluation of samples by the Institute of Public Health," they said.

What is the health complication?
From the institution, the 25 cadets were instructed to hospitalize since "they presented an acute respiratory condition, for which reason they are currently receiving the respective treatments at the Military Hospital of Santiago," according to the authority.
