In preparation for the possibility that the acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) outbreak could return in 2015, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are expanding their case definition to include adults. A handful of sentinel surveillance sites have been selected to actively look for early cases, and radiologic records of unexplained paralysis cases from the past decade are being studied to determine whether AFM was occurring earlier than previously recognized...
