Tests are underway to determine if an unidentified woman died from the H1N1 virus or if some other underlying medical condition is to blame.
Infectious disease expert Dr. Neil Rau tells CTV Newsnet, even if the tests reveal H1N1 was responsible, it won't change things dramatically.
Rau says in 1976, when a swine flu derived vaccine was used, it caused unusual neurological side effects.
H1N1 is blamed for 44 deaths in Mexico and two in the U.S.
The number of confirmed flu cases in Canada has risen to 214, that includes 3 new cases in Alberta.
Two central Alberta boys tested positive for the virus. Neither had travelled to Mexico.
The third case , an Edmonton woman, had recently been to Mexico.
While the vast majority of the 33 flu cases in our province are being described as mild, a young Edmonton girl continues to recover in hospital.
