Testing pandemic response plans

Posted 3 days ago

An exercise to test the pandemic emergency response of municipalities within the county will occur this June.
The County of Renfrew Emergency Services Department, in partnership with its 17 lower tier municipalities, will be conducting an emergency exercise on Wednesday June 18.
The county and all lower tier municipalities are legislated by the Emergency Preparedness and Civil Protection Act, to conduct an annual training exercise of the Municipal Emergency Response Plan and for members of Community Emergency Control Groups.
The focus of the June exercise will be an Influenza Pandemic Health Event.
Coupled with this main scenario, municipalities will be dealing with emergency situations specific to their local hazards and emergency planning priorities.
The objectives of the exercise are to exercise community emergency plans, identify priorities for collaboration, raise awareness of the need for business continuity planning, raise awareness of risks associated with a human health pandemic and test the inter-agency and inter municipal communications during an extended emergency.
The county anticipates that more than 200 members from lower tier municipal emergency control groups, county departments and other agencies will participate in the day-long event.
