Manitoba health officials are warning the public about the presence of H1N1 and H1N2, also known as swine flu, in the province.
Dr. Brent Roussin, chief provincial public health officer, and Dr. Scott Zaari, chief veterinary officer, made the announcement at a news conference on Friday.
According to the Manitoba government, the province has identified two separate cases of variant influenza in unrelated people in different communities in southern Manitoba. The province noted that one is a case of human influenza, A(H1N2)v, and the other is a case of human influenza A(H1N1)v.
The cases are the results of two different viruses and aren?t linked to each other.
Roussin said there is no evidence of increased risk to people.
This is a developing story. More details to come.
