PHNOM PENH, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia had recorded 179 dengue fever cases in the first three months of this year, a 87 percent decrease from 1,393 cases over the same period last year, a health official said Friday.
Char Meng Chuor, director of the National Center for Parasitology, Entomology and Malaria Control, said during the January-March period this year, the disease killed one child, down from 6 deaths over the same period last year.

This marks a sharp drop from the 11 deaths and 1,628 infections the Health Ministry recorded during the first 14 weeks of 2013.

Cambodia has reported 1,005 dengue fever cases in the first six months of 2014, down 83 percent from 6,039 cases in the same period last year, a health official said Friday.
Char Meng Chuor, director of the National Center for Parasitology, Entomology and Malaria Control, said during the January-June period this year, the disease killed only 6 children, sharply down from 25 deaths over the same period last year.
"Sixty-seven percent of the patients were children aged between 5 and 14 years," he said, urging parents to have their children sleep under mosquito nets to prevent them from being bitten by mosquitoes.

Dengue fever kills 21 Cambodian kids last year, down 64 pct
PHNOM PENH, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least 21 Cambodian children had been killed by dengue fever last year, a decrease of 64 percent from 59 deaths in 2013, local newspaper reported Wednesday.

With cases in the past six months more than doubled compared to last year, the Ministry of Health is urging Cambodians to exercise caution as the Kingdom builds toward an expected periodic dengue outbreak.

PHNOM PENH (Xinhua) -- Cambodia has seen 2,688 dengue fever cases in the first six months of 2015, an increase of 116 percent from the 1,245 cases over the same period last year, a health official said in a report on Saturday.
"The incident rate is 16.6 cases out of 100,000 people," Huy Rekol, director of the National Center for Parasitology, Entomology and Malaria Control, said in the report posted on the center's website.

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) ? The sidewalk near Wat Phnom resembles the line outside a popular amusement park. Toy sellers walk by hawking plastic helicopters and rattles, as a line of more than a hundred parents and children sit and wait for the gates to open, cooling themselves with plastic fans.
But these children are waiting for medicine, not a roller-coaster ride.
